MOOD Lifestyle is recruiting for its new Art Team, with applications closing on February 9th at 5pm. Led by Creative Director Tracey Ann Smith, the team offers emerging talent the chance to represent a growing brand focused on hair colour, care, and styling.
This initiative provides a clear pathway for new stylists to gain industry exposure and mentorship. Tracey Ann Smith herself will provide ongoing guidance, alongside MOOD Ambassador Marlene Lamont. Such opportunities are crucial for career progression in a sector often dominated by established names.
The application process requires a one-minute video detailing career aspirations and a written explanation of interest. Entrants must also submit two photographs showcasing their work: either one behind-the-chair shot and one professional image, or two behind-the-chair images if professional work is unavailable. This tiered approach acknowledges the varying stages of talent development.
Shortlisted candidates will face blind auditions, where they must perform a cut, colour, and style. A panel including Tracey Ann Smith, Marlene Lamont, and industry experts from AJC 93 PR will judge the finalists. Success means participation in educational sessions covering creative techniques, attendance at key events like Salon International and HairCon, and involvement in the MOOD 2026 spring photo shoot. Substantial product packages and a year-end awards night are also included.
While this programme clearly aims to nurture new talent, it raises questions about the long-term support structure. What happens after the initial year? Ensuring consistent development and ongoing opportunities will be key to the programme's lasting impact on participating stylists and the industry.
