Simon Shaw is now the 40th President of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, following a day of presentations and discussions. This appointment comes as the organisation marks its 80th year, with a new president elected every two years.
Shaw steps into the role previously held by industry figures such as Errol Douglas MBE and Beverly C MBE. He has a long history with the Fellowship, having joined early in his career and contributing to its visibility and integrity. His tenure as Head of Education saw an increase in membership and the successful introduction of 'Project Men & Media'.
Education remains a central focus for Shaw, who brings experience as a Global Artistic Director to the presidency. This dual perspective, balancing artistic vision with commercial understanding, is vital for leading the Fellowship.
Marcus Allen, Chair of the Fellowship, praised Shaw's selection. He highlighted Shaw's deep industry immersion and respected standing. Allen expressed confidence that Shaw's dedication will lead to an exciting two-year term. The Fellowship also thanked outgoing President Ashleigh Hodges for her contributions.
