The Fellowship for British Hairdressing has announced its new seven-strong Senior Leadership Team, formed under President Simon Shaw. This move follows Shaw's recent appointment as the organisation's 40th President. The team aims to modernise the Fellowship's operations while honouring its history, with a focus on growth and elevated service standards.
Barry Stephens, Chief Executive, and Ashleigh Hodges, past President, have overseen a period of expansion for the Fellowship over the last two years, achieving record membership numbers and continuing to offer specialised educational programmes. This new leadership structure intends to build upon that momentum.
The appointed individuals are: Simon Shaw (President), Barry Stephens (Chief Executive), Marcus Allan (Chair), Sally Brooks (Artistic Director), Marnie Williams (Director of Further Education and Colleges), Josh Lamonaca (Director of Men’s Hairdressing and Barbering), and Marina Steinbach (Director of International Sales Development). This diverse group suggests a commitment to broadening the Fellowship's reach and expertise.
Stephens highlighted the organisation's 80th year, emphasising forward-thinking plans for both creative and commercial benefit. The team is expected to attract top talent in creativity, business, and education for member advantage. The Fellowship positions this as a transitionary period, introducing new initiatives to complement its established framework.
The Fellowship's stated goals for Shaw's presidency include enhancing further education across the UK and developing membership offerings. This signals a potential shift towards greater engagement with vocational training and a wider spectrum of industry professionals. The success of these aims will hinge on the team's ability to translate these ambitions into tangible benefits for members and sponsors.
