London has welcomed its first co-working salon dedicated entirely to Afro, curly, and coily hair. Tressly Studios, launching on Saturday 7 March in Lewisham Shopping Centre, aims to provide a specialist environment that has historically been underserved in the UK.
With fewer than 0.01% of UK salons specifically catering to textured hair, Tressly Studios addresses a significant gap. The business, founded by Antoinette Ale, combines independent hairstylists with curated haircare brands often excluded from mainstream retail. This approach ensures tailored, high-performance care for clients with unique hair needs.
The studio promises a contemporary space offering in-depth consultations, protective styling, and educational workshops. Tressly Studios also builds on the brand's existing digital platform, which supports independent stylists with online storefronts. This physical launch represents an evolution towards a tangible, tech-driven service destination.
Antoinette Ale, who also leads Hair Equity for the British Beauty Council, highlighted the need to redefine textured hair experiences in the UK. Her mission focuses on accessibility and empowering stylists with the skills and confidence to excel. The Lewisham Shopping Centre's Centre Director, Paul Redden, welcomed Tressly Studios as a valuable addition to their diverse retail offering.
