Gerrard International has acquired Jessica Cosmetics, the nailcare brand it has distributed and promoted in the UK for 35 years. This move consolidates ownership of the brand, which was founded in 1978 by the late Jessica Vartoughian, known as 'The First Lady of Nails'. Gerrard International, a distributor and training provider, has overseen Jessica Cosmetics' most successful market, the UK, for over three decades.
The acquisition follows the passing of Jessica Vartoughian in April. Her daughter, Nadia Shamsi, expressed trust in the Gerrard family to continue her mother's legacy, citing their long-standing commitment and understanding of the brand's philosophy. This continuity is a significant point for the professional nail industry, where brand heritage often plays a crucial role in salon selection and client loyalty.
Susan Gerrard, co-founder of Gerrard International, highlighted the deep integration of the Jessica brand into her company's history and values. The acquisition brings Jessica Cosmetics under the same umbrella as Gerrard International's existing brand, Mii. The Jessica product line, which spans treatments, over 250 colour shades, gel polishes, and pedicure ranges, is currently sold in more than 60 countries. The industry will watch to see how Gerrard International integrates Jessica's extensive global presence with its existing operational structure.
