The Fellowship for British Hairdressing recently brought its Creative XChange event to Winchester, marking the first time the series visited the city. Held at Studio U, owned by F.A.M.E. Team Alumni Harry Andreou, the May 29, 2026 gathering focused on education and community building among local hairdressers.
This event showcased how current trends can be adapted for salon work and editorial styling. Attendees received goody bags from sponsors GLOWWA, Zen Luxury Hair Extensions, and Enki Towels. The program featured local artists demonstrating specific skills: Karis Woodward (Project Colour Support 2026) shared techniques for a high-shine chrome colour finish. Callum Bates-Siney, a Ringwood stylist and Project Sassoon Achiever of the Year 2024, presented precision cutting with strong silhouettes. Billy Ryan from Tribe in London (Project Men & Media Support 2026) demonstrated a relaxed men's mod cut. Kieran Martin, a Fellowship Events Team Member and Project Media & Media 2024 graduate, explored the link between cutting and colour placement. Special guest Kathryn Dartnell from Jack & the Wolfe in Lymington demonstrated maintaining volume in blowdries.
The Fellowship's Creative XChange initiative aims to foster local creative hubs and encourage industry professionals to engage with the organisation's Bespoke Education Projects. The events cover a range of hairdressing and barbering techniques for all hair types. The Winchester event served as a platform for collaboration and idea exchange.
While the event successfully delivered technical demonstrations, the focus remained on replicating existing trends. An opportunity for deeper discussion on how these styles might evolve or be uniquely adapted by individual salons could further enhance the value for attendees seeking to differentiate their services.
