Marlo Steenman, a NAHA Colorist of the Year recipient, has launched Curls Gone Wild, an education program aimed at stylists. The initiative focuses on advancing techniques for curl care, cutting, and styling. It also seeks to improve client interactions at the chair.
The program draws from Steenman’s own experience with curly hair and years of client work. Curls Gone Wild offers practical instruction on understanding curl patterns and refining cutting and styling skills. It also provides strategies for building a business centred on curly hair clients.
Steenman stated that the class empowers stylists with repeatable techniques designed to achieve tangible results. These benefits are expected to be both creative and financial for salon professionals. The course aims to equip stylists with tools to improve natural texture work and client communication.
The curriculum includes hands-on instruction, efficient cutting methods, and detailed styling demonstrations. Business-building strategies specific to curly clientele are also part of the program. Steenman's approach prioritises hair health and client confidence, encouraging a return to the artistry of working with natural texture.
Curls Gone Wild classes will be held at America's Beauty Show from April 18–20, 2026, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. The announcement highlights the ongoing demand for specialised education in hair care, particularly for textured hair, suggesting a market opportunity for salons that invest in this niche.
