The newly opened Blue Tit salon in Hammersmith, launched in September 2025 by owner Stefania Mastrogiuseppe, showcases an Italian-inspired aesthetic combined with a commitment to sustainability. Mastrogiuseppe, who relocated from Italy and previously worked for Blue Tit in Portobello, chose Hammersmith for its community need for an inclusive and creative hub. The salon features nine chairs and four basins, staffed by a team of three.
Design elements draw heavily from Italian influences, with Mediterranean tones, tactile textures, and thoughtful lighting. Collaborating with designers Sally and Nathan from Studionlm, Mastrogiuseppe incorporated earthy colours, Italian tiles, and features like arched shelving and communal tables. The ground floor is open, while the basement houses the four backwash stations, offering a more private client experience.
A key aspect of the salon's construction involved prioritising longevity and environmental consciousness. Furniture, tiles, and fittings were largely sourced from independent UK and European brands. This focus on quality materials over fast design reflects a deliberate approach to sustainability in the salon's build. Mastrogiuseppe’s advice for others undertaking renovations includes evaluating existing materials for reuse, selecting a supportive build team, and maintaining alignment with the core vision despite unforeseen challenges.
