Melanie Lewendon, Scratch Stars Educator of the Year 2024 and Online Educator of the Year finalist 2025, has launched a podcast called The Nail Tech Society. The show aims to simplify complex topics within the nail industry, addressing common questions that Lewendon often encounters in online forums.
Lewendon explained that confusion arises when nail technicians rely on fragmented answers from social media groups. Her podcast offers jargon-free explanations of techniques, products, and career building for nail professionals. Episodes cover foundational subjects like becoming a nail tech and selecting brands, alongside detailed guides on gels and gel training.
Each episode explores the reasoning behind specific practices and products, aiming to provide accessible education without jargon. Lewendon intends to share her experiences and real-world scenarios, sometimes including downloadable resources or links to further support. She hopes the podcast will serve as a valuable educational tool for students and professionals alike.
Future plans for The Nail Tech Society include featuring guest experts to offer diverse perspectives on the nail industry. Lewendon also envisions filming episodes in a studio for a visual component. She stated that while still learning and experiencing imposter syndrome, she has found purpose in creating this resource. The podcast has already received positive feedback from numerous new nail technicians.
