Disney's Shanghai store introduced an AI-powered manicure studio from Umia Beauty during February. This automated system applied intricate, themed nail art for customers celebrating Lunar New Year. The technology directly prints designs, aiming to streamline tasks for nail professionals while also crediting artists.
Customers could select designs featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, alongside characters from Zootopia, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Umia Beauty co-founder Modi Liu highlighted brand collaborations with L’Occitane, Kering, and WGSN. Feedback consistently praised the machine's accuracy, consistency, and the immersive experience it creates.
Liu expressed that the Disney partnership validates Umia Beauty's mission to make nail art more accessible. The collaboration with an organisation known for global storytelling and joy confirms the belief that nail art transcends beauty, offering everyday delight. This initiative offers a glimpse into how technology can integrate into retail experiences, enhancing customer engagement with branded content.
